Grace Jones

Slave to the Rhythm

Grace Jone has earned her iconic status for her tremendous sense of high fashion, her dramatic vocalizations, and her towering stage presence. Though she's not especially known for her dancing ability, she's inspired a lot of dancers around the world with her hypnotic dance floor anthems.

This clip of Grace Jones singing her classic, "Slave to the Rhythm" was from a 2004 charity concert for The Prince of Wales' "The Prince's Trust". The event was in celebration of the career of music producer and composer Trevor Horn, and featured an all star lineup including The Pet Shop Boys, Frankie Goes To Hollywood, Seal, Grace Jones, ABC and Lisa Stansfield. That's a lot of great dance music! The concert is being released in June, 2008 as a DVD (PAL only) from ZTT Shop. ZTT of the UK offers a lot of great dance music as CD's through the mail or digital DRM free MP3 downloads.

Thanks twslex!

Here's a 1985 German TV production featuring Grace Jones lip syncing to the record, interspersed with excerpts from the original music video.
Thanks miraculi!

In this dramatic performance of Edith Piaf's "La Vie En Rose", Grace literally does not take a single step as she plays the accordion and belts it out. The song has a great beat, so feel free to step away from the computer for a moment and provide the dancing.
Thanks patXIV!

I've seen that face before...
